En l'occurence, la nouvelle corde à mon art c'est donc la porcelaine, comme je l'ai déjà mentionné dans mon précédent post, mais sans vraiment imager avec mes propres réalisations. J'ai ouvert cet article sur l'une de mes premières tasses, si l'on omet quelques rares essais sans suite au cours des années passées. Mais ici, je peignais avec l'une de mes propres couleurs, autant dire le début des choses sérieuses. Le résultat n'a pas été très concluant, notamment parce que j'ai composé et dessiné au fur et à mesure et que du coup le résultat est plutôt inégal. Depuis, je préfère dessiner beaucoup de motifs avant d'entamer la peinture, pas nécessairement toute la collection, mais au moins de quoi faire une tasse complète. Ensuite je compose directement sur ma porcelaine en scotchant mes modèles jusqu'à ce que je sois satisfaite avec leur placement. Étape parfois renouvellée lorsque je change de coloris, avec même parfois des changements de dessins.

As you may have gathered from my previous post, I've added porcelain painting to the range of things I do for nought, although the focus of the post was rather on my mother's creations rather than mines. I opened up this post on one of my first mugs, save for the odd things here and then over the last decade and so. But this time, I used my own colours, meaning shit was getting serious. Well I wasn't over the moon with the final result, uneven, but that was mostly because I drew and composed on the go and that wasn't the best of ideas. Ever since I've been doing things differently, trying to have enough drawings maybe not for a full-blown collection, but at least for a teacup before entering the painting phase. Then I tape photocopies of the drawings onto the porcelain until I'm satisfied with the placement. Sometimes I go through this step again and differently when I switch colours.

En tout cas le thème de la lingerie n'est pas abandonné, ce sera sûrement ma prochaine collection. C'est fou d'ailleurs de se dire que j'ai pris toutes ces photos en me disant que quand tout serait fini, je les partagerais… et que pour certaines, il aura fallu attendre presque deux ans ! Celles des cafetières sont plus récentes, été 2018 principalement. Avec ma mère nous étions ravies d'avoir découvert ces cafetières dont avons dévalisé autant que possible le stock. Quant au thème, je l'ai choisi parce que c'est un thème familier, qui correspond aussi dans une certaine mesure à ma façon de m'habiller, et que pour mes premiers pas en porcelaine je voulais une étape de création fluide pour contrebalancer un apprentissage de la technique forcément un peu laborieux. Les photos suivantes montrent d'ailleurs des essais pour réaliser un applat, avec deux techniques différentes :

The lingerie theme wasn't abandoned, more like postponed until my next collection. Wild to think I took all these work in progress pictures looking forward to share them, yet the oldest waited for almost 2 years! The coffee pots pics are slightly more recent, most of the work took place around the summer of 2018. My mum had found those unusual porcelain coffee pots and shared her discovery with me, then we raided the shops which carried them. As for the “Oldschool Lolita” theme, I picked it up because it's a familiar universe to me, if only because it's a part of my own wardrobe, and that I didn't intend to linger long on creative work when I expected to meet with technical struggles. On that note, the next 3 pictures will show an experiment I had with painting larger areas:

Cette collection est d'ors et déjà disponible dans la boutique et archivée dans le portfolio (certaines pièces étant déjà parties lors du Modern Doll Fest). Elle s'est étoffée de quelques tasses car le travail de création sur la collection suivante s'embourbait et je m'inquiétais déjà pour mon stock. Je regrette de ne pas avoir pu leur accorder une séance photo personnalisée mais ma garde-robe et mes magazines sont stockés chez moi tandis que mes créations sont chez ma mère, puisque notre boutique de porcelaine est commune. Elle vient d'ailleurs d'ajouter à celle-ci ses théières et tasses sur le thème d'Alice au Pays des Merveilles, depuis si longtemps considéré comme un classique de la culture populaire qu'on en oublie son texte toujours aussi fascinant. Attendez vous à d'autres posts bientôt car nous avons encore bien d'autres collections à vous présenter — et toujours autant de bureaux itinérants. I've uploaded this collection both to the shop^[3] and to the portfolio (so you can also see the sold-out stuff as well, courtesy of the Modern Doll Fest). Since the coffee pots, I also did some mugs because the design process for the following collection was taking a while but I was desirous to get started as soon as possible on my stock for the convention. I regret not doing a proper photoshoot for them with accessories and stuff, but it is a bit complicated as unlike all my lolita props which are obviously residing with me, my porcelains are stored away in Le Hibou Philosophe headquarters as we share the shop. Speaking of which, my mum has also listed some of her recent creations which I think are pretty complimentary to the Oldschool Lolita serie: a mini collection of whimsical teapots and mugs on the theme of Alice in Wonderland. Expect more posts soons as we still have many more novelties to unveil — and equally as much temporary workspaces.
