Let's get back to be an illustration blog and an active one at that!

Ce ne sera pas pour autant l'héroïne de ma BD, mais il fallait que ce genre de visage moyen-âgeux voit le jour sinon, à l'instar de ce qui s'est passé avec l'affiche de la Convention Lolita, je l'aurais casé ailleurs de manière inappropriée et donc, pour moi, décevante. Elle a été longue à faire en plus, j'ai testé d'ombrer au crayon les pierres avant de repeindre par dessus pour donner une texture (mais au final j'ai passé plusieurs couches pour assombrir donc tout ce travail n'est pas vraiment resté), et aussi j'ai rattrapé tout ce qui partait mal au niveau aquarelle en dessinant davantage qu'en peignant certaines parties. J'aime bien, ça a été sympa à faire et nul doute que le défilé médiéval auquel je vais aller demain soir devrait prolonger un peu l'ambiance…

She won't be the face of my current comic, but I had to try my hand at that sort of medieval face lest it should turn up unexpectedly in another illustration where it wasn't desired, as happended with my poster for the Lolita Convention earlier this year. It took me long to complete, as I experimented with shading an underlayer with pencils before a color wash to give it texture, only I had to do several washes so all that preliminary work was a bit wasted. What also took me a lot of time was that everytime something was amiss with the painting, I did so tiny-ass brush retouching almost as if working with pencils rather than paint. But still it was a pleasant one to paint and no doubt tomorrow's renfair will keep me in the mood…
